Nigeria’s Super Eagles have departed Uyo for Bissau ahead of their crucial 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Guinea-Bissau.
The team left the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo on Sunday afternoon via a chartered flight at exactly 3 p.m., after arriving at the airport at 2 p.m.
The departure was after a final closed-door training session at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, which began at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
Head coach, Éric Chelle, led the session as part of intense preparations for the Matchday 2 Group L fixture.

The Super Eagles go into the encounter with three points after staging a 2-1 comeback victory over Madagascar in their opening group game in Uyo on Friday, 25 September, 2026.
Madagascar had shocked the Super Eagles via the Ehsan Kari’s 16th-minute header; before debutants George Ilenikhena and Moses Usor scored in first-half stoppage time and in the 65th minute respectively, to seal the win.
Guinea-Bissau also have three points after beating Tanzania 2-0 away in their first game.
The result leaves the Wild Dogs top of Group L on goal difference, ahead of Nigeria.
Tuesday’s clash is expected to be decisive, as Tanzania have already qualified automatically as co-hosts of the 2027 AFCON.
This means; only the top-ranked team among Nigeria, Guinea-Bissau and Madagascar will qualify from Group L.
Speaking after the win over Madagascar, Coach Chelle warned that Guinea-Bissau will pose a different threat.
“I’m happy because they found the solution. It was not easy. So now we have to forget this game, analyse what we did, and then we have a second game in Guinea-Bissau,” Chelle said.
The team will hold a final training session in Bissau on Monday to fine-tune tactics before the big showdown.
The game will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 with Venue at the Estádio 24 de Setembro, Bissau.
Kick-off: 5:00 p.m. (Nigerian Time).
