The Ministry’s Commissioner, Mrs. Eugenia Abdallah, made the assurance during a meeting with occupants of the ‘Iwogban Stores’ in Benin, the State Capital.

Daisy Osunde the director, media in the Ministry made this known in a press release circulated amongst journalists in Benin.

Osunde quoted the Commissioner to have announced new measures including the issuance of fresh occupancy letters to all the tenants.

Mrs. Abdallah explained that the FSP, designed to support livelihoods through affordable business spaces, can only remain sustainable if beneficiaries uphold their financial and tenancy obligations, Osunde said.

As She expressed concern over persistent delays in rent payments by some tenants, despite the Ministry’s flexibility and provision of grace periods.

According to Osunde, Mrs. Abdallah further stated in clear terms that to ensure fairness and proper management of the ‘Iwogban Stores, the Ministry will implement stricter measures, including clearly defined payment timelines and penalties for defaulters.

Hence tenants experiencing challenges should engage the Ministry and communicate their difficulties rather than neglect their responsibilities, She was quoted to have urged.

Reiterating the Ministry’s commitment to empowerment and community development, She pointed out that continued support however will be tied to compliance with agreed terms, Mrs. Abdallah stated.

The meeting also served as an interactive session, allowing tenants to seek clarification on payment structures, tenancy conditions, and future expectations, Osunde said.
