Edo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Eugenia Abdallah has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to advancing the welfare and empowerment of young women.

Abdallah made the reaffirmation in a courtesy visit by the National Female Students Association of Nigeria (NFSAN), University of Benin chapter.
The media team of the ministry headed by Daisy Osunde, director, media, made this known in a press release circulated amongst journalists on Tuesday in Benin.
The delegation, led by the Director of Welfare/Social, Comrade Johnson Esther Oyimeh, alongside other executive members, visited the Commissioner to seek strategic partnership and institutional support for their upcoming programme titled: ‘Edo State Menstrual Health and Empowerment Initiative,’ scheduled for June 4, it was stated.
Comrade Oyimeh was quoted to have said while addressing the commissioner; that the initiative is designed to promote menstrual hygiene awareness, break stigmas surrounding menstruation, and empower female students with the knowledge and resources needed to manage their health with dignity.
She noted that collaboration with the Ministry is critical to ensuring wider reach and impact across the state.
Responding, Hon. Abdallah commended the association for championing a cause that directly affects the well-being, education, and confidence of young girls, it was stated.

She was said to have emphasized that menstrual health remains a key component of gender equity and social inclusion, with the assurance that the Ministry is open to partnerships that drive sustainable development for women and girls.
Further, the Commissioner was said to have expressed appreciation for being selected as one of the speakers at the event, assuring the delegation of her support and willingness to contribute meaningfully to the success of the initiative.
The meeting concluded with mutual commitments to collaborate on programmes that promote the rights, health, and empowerment of female students across Edo State.
