Tonymark Asamali Imakhe

• Seeks public support for urgent medic care

From our news desk, Benin

‎
‎A seasoned Nigerian journalist and former Bureau Chief with the Daar Communications Plc; Tonymark Asamali Imakhe is currently battling a life-altering health crisis, prompting an urgent appeal for public support to sustain his medical treatment and rehabilitation.
‎

Tonymark Asamali Imakhe hails from Ekperi clan in Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State.
‎
‎

He began his journey by founding two community-based newspapers — Ekperi Voice and later Central News — platforms through which he amplified the voices of underserved communities and championed development initiatives in Ekperi and the wider Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State.
‎
‎

His impactful work at the grassroots level earned him recognition and a subsequent role at Daar Communications Plc, one of Nigeria’s foremost broadcast organizations.
‎
‎

There, he served with distinction as a reporter and editor, eventually rising to the position of Head of Station at AIT Agenebode and later AIT Benin. His career was defined by professionalism, leadership, and a deep commitment to public-interest journalism.
‎
‎

However, his thriving career was abruptly cut short in June 2019 when he suffered a major stroke that left him significantly incapacitated. According to him, “this one is the second time of suffering this ailment. It first occurred as a partial stroke in 2017.”
‎
‎
‎The health crisis was further compounded by severe osteoarthritis, which has affected his left hand and shoulder, drastically limiting his mobility and independence. As a result of his deteriorating condition, he disclosed that “my job was terminated in 2020 as my employers found me virtually incapacitated.”
‎

‎Since then, he has been engaged in a prolonged and physically demanding battle for recovery, requiring continuous physiotherapy, daily therapeutic massage, and specialized medical care. Medical experts have also recommended the possibility of a brain surgery aimed at improving blood flow to affected areas — a critical intervention that offers hope for recovery but remains financially out of reach.
‎
‎

A sum of ₦5 million is currently needed to carry out comprehensive rehabilitation and recovery efforts, including ongoing therapy and the proposed surgical procedure.
‎
‎

Despite his resilience, the financial burden of treatment has become overwhelming, leading to this public appeal for assistance from kind-hearted individuals, corporate organizations, and the general public.
‎
‎

How to Support:
‎Donations can be made to the following accounts:
‎Zenith Bank: 2084225203
‎Opay: 8021444557
‎

Every contribution, no matter how small, will go a long way in helping him regain his health and rebuild his life.
‎

‎This is a call to stand by a man who once stood firmly for his community — a voice for the voiceless who now needs others to speak and act on his behalf.
‎
