In her welcome remarks, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Eugenia Abdallah described the gathering as a celebration of the strength, resilience and unity of Edo women.

She stated that the keep-fit exercise was organized not only to commemorate International Women’s Day but also to promote healthy living among women in the State state.

“It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to this exciting keep-fit exercise organized to commemorate International Women’s Day 2026.

“Seeing so many strong, energetic and inspiring women gathered here today truly reflects the power, unity and spirit of Edo women.”

She added; the day served as a reminder that women must also care for themselves while supporting their families and communities.

“Today is not just about exercise; it is about celebrating ourselves. As women, we carry many responsibilities in our homes, workplaces, communities and in leadership.

“In the midst of all we do for others, today reminds us of something very important; we must also take care of ourselves.”

Mrs. Abdallah stressed that a healthy woman is a confident and productive woman whose wellbeing directly contributes to the strength and progress of society.

“When women are healthy and strong, our families, our communities and our State become stronger.

“That is why this keep-fit exercise is so important. It reminds us that staying active, keeping fit and prioritizing our wellbeing should be part of our daily lives.

“When we move our bodies, we energize our minds, uplift our spirits and build the strength needed to keep breaking barriers and achieving greatness”.

The Commissioner expressed delight at seeing women from different walks of life come together in the spirit of celebration, solidarity and empowerment, noting that the essence of international women’s day is about promoting unity, strength and progress among women.

She encouraged women to continue supporting one another and inspire the younger generation.

“As we exercise today, let us celebrate the resilience of Edo women, support one another, and continue to inspire the next generation of girls to dream big and live healthy, fulfilling lives. Let today remind us that our health is our wealth and strong women build strong societies”.
