• Solicits Government attention
By Henry Omo – Ogbemudia, Benin

The people of Iguomon Village, Ovia-North-East Local Government Council Area, Edo State have poured encomium on the Benin Monarch HRM Oba Ewuare II for what they termed: quality and impactful leadership since ascending the throne of his forebears.
The reign of the Monarch has not only been peaceful, but has continued to push for the unity of the Benin Kingdom, Edo State and the entire country.
This is as he has consistently campaigned for the sustenance and promotion of the Benin culture and traditions; which evidently culminated into the return of several stolen artifacts from the Kingdom, by the Western world.
They stated these recently during a thank you visit to the god king of the Benin people, in his Palace in Benin-City.

Speaking on behalf of the people, the Odionwere (eldest man and traditional administrative Head), Pa. Efosa Godwin also commended the Oba for reviving and sustaining the place of the Igheles (Youths), and even the elders in the Kingdom.
This has helped in no small measure in enthroning peace and harmony among the people, particularly in Iguomon Village, he said.
“We have come to pay obeisance to our god-King; HRM Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Ewuare II for the peace and progress we are enjoying in our land.
“Also, to intimate him about the progressive works we are doing in Iguomon in-spite of the absence of government attention.
“We have been able to bring in light, water, we also single handedly built a market for our people to ease the sales of their farm produce.
“Also, school for our children, town hall for meetings and social gatherings, including a public television set to get our people informed and enlightened.”
He however appealed for the attention of government both at the local Government Council and State level as several other areas of need exist.
“For example, we need a government secondary school, health centre and even a police station amongst others.”
The Okaighele (Youths Head), Osaigbovo Omoregie speaking in the same vein, said Iguomon Village has land for all manners of investment particularly farming.
He therefore called on developers; both individuals and corporate, even the government to come invest assuring that they are very safe.
