Recently, the Benin Monarch HRM Oba Ewuare II in the demands of the tradition of the Kingdom, approved the installation of Pa. Peter Erhesowa Osakwe as the Odionwere of the people of Erua community.
Erua community is situated along the Benin – Auchi highway in the Uhunmwonde local Government Area of Edo State.

On Friday, 5 June, 2026 in a party, the people gathered in large numbers to celebrate Pa. Erhesowa Osakwe as their new Odionwere.

Delivering his official inaugural speech, Odionwere Erhesowa appreciated God Almighty for keeping him alive and healthy, and the Monarch, HRM Oba Ewuare II for making his installation possible.
He also appreciated his people for their resilience, and for standing by him through the turbulent process leading to his installation.
Odionwere Osakwe sued for peace, unwavering support and cooperation of everyone to enable the growth and development of Erua community.
He appealed, everyone should purge themselves of any grievance and bitterness, and unite for a better life ahead of them; promising an all inclusive and open door administration.
As he prayed to God and the ancestors of Erua to guide and guard him in the leadership of the community, and for divine blessings upon everyone.
Various persons commented on the event of the day. According to Pa. Samson Erhenwe, the Odionwere is chosen by the mass of the people of Erua and confirmed by HRM Oba Ewuare II as the most elderly male.
Hence anyone who goes against his authority and leadership is not only an enemy, but against God, HRM Oba Ewuare II, and the ancestors of the land.

While Pa. Solomon Omoruyi revealed; that Erua comprises three villages: Upper Erua, Central Erua and Erua N’ khua; Odionwere Osakwe presides over the entire community, he stated.
He added, that upon his confirmation as the Odionwere by the Monarch HRM Oba Ewuare II, he is automatically the local administrative Head of the three villages.
“So, we are celebrating; all the rigours and rubble we have faced, God has seen us through and we are all happy.”
Also, Hon. Osaretin Osayande Omosigho, counsellor representing Igieduma Ward 3, said Pa. Peter Erhesowa Osakwe having been ordained by HRM Oba Ewuare II, he is the full Odionwere and there is no controversy about it.
Asked for his advice as official representative of the people in government, Omosigho called on the youths to work in harmony with the Okaighele, (Youths Head) Osamuyi Okunghae to enable the success of Odionwere Erhesowa’s leadership.
In the same vein, the Okaighele, David Osamuyi Okunghae thanked God and the Monarch, HRM Oba Ewuare II for making possible the inauguration of Pa. Osakwe, as the Odionwere of Erua.
He said; being thankful is because the process leading to his installation had been very challenging, due to the negative activities of some elements within.
“If not for God Almighty, HRM Oba Ewuare II, and our Ancestors; our father, Pa. Osakwe would not have been Odionwere and David Osamuyi Okunghae would not have been Okaighele. So we are grateful!”
The event was well attended by the sons and daughters of Erua Community from far and near; all celebrating the peaceful installation of Osakwe as the Odionwere, which opened a new chapter in their history.
