On Saturday, 11 July, 2026, Hon. Osaro Eribo was elected as the substantive Chairman of Egor Local Government Council Area in Edo State, after about one year of acting.
He was declared winner of the election by the Edo Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) returning officer, Dr. Kingsley Oriabu Oaikhena.
As his political party; the All Progressives Congress (APC) was announced to have scored 195,836 total votes to beat its closest rival; the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) which was said to have scored 213 votes.

Reacting in an interview with journalists, Hon. Eribo said he was elated; expressing gratitude to the people of Egor for coming out en-mass to exercise their constitutional responsibility.
He promised: “I want to assure that I will continue to do the good work I have been doing for the people of Egor Local Government Council Area.
“I promised, that I will turn Egor Local Government Area around positively, and when I am sworn in as the substantive Chairman, impactful changes will come. It will never be business as usual!”
Also reacting, the Chairman, APC, Egor Chapter, Chief Emmanuel Iyase asserts that the outcome of the election was an indication of what to expect in the January, 2027 general election.

Saying, that he would work harder to make double the turn out of voters and the final results in favour of the APC.
Iyase added; that he is confident in the capacity and capabilities of the newly elected Chairman to make the APC proud, in the delivery of the much desired dividends of democracy for the people of Egor.
“He has been there as an acting Chairman and he has done well for the people so, I am very optimistic that in the next three years, he is going to do well. He is a party man who has been in the system; he knows what governance is all about!”
