• Says Edo, Indeed Nigeria has lost a reformer

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Edo State Chapter has joined the family and numerous Nigerians in the mourning of former Inspector-general of Police (IGP) Solomon Arase who departed this world on Sunday, 31 August, 2025 morning in Abuja.

The Party in a statement by its State Publicity Secretary, Prince Peter Uwadiae and availed journalists in Benin on Sunday, laments that Edo State and indeed Nigeria has lost a visionary reformer, and a beacon of hope to the younger generation of Nigerians.
Stating; it deeply mourns the passing of an illustrious son, elder statesman, and reform-driven former Inspector-General of Police.
The Party adds, that Arase was not only a patriotic Nigerian but also a proud Edo son who dedicated his life to the service of the nation with courage, discipline, and uncommon integrity.
The statement reads in part;
“His rise to become the 18th Inspector-General of Police was the result of hard work, brilliance, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
“A man of immense intellectual depth, Dr. Arase studied Political Science at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and later obtained a Law degree. He went further to earn a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the University of Ibadan and a Doctorate in Law.
“This blend of scholarship and practical experience distinguished him as one of Nigeria’s most respected law enforcement leaders.
“As Inspector-General of Police between 2015 and 2016, he championed community policing, intelligence-led security management, and reforms that improved professionalism within the Force.
“Beyond his tenure, he continued to contribute to national development, most recently serving with distinction as Chairman of the Police Service Commission.
“Edo State, and indeed Nigeria, has lost a visionary reformer, a beacon of hope to younger generations, and a worthy role model whose legacy of service and leadership will remain evergreen.
“On behalf of the APC family in Edo State, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the Arase family, the Nigeria Police Force, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working with this great man.
“While we grieve, we are comforted by the knowledge that he lived a purposeful and impactful life.
“May Almighty God grant his soul eternal rest and give his family the strength to bear this irreparable loss.”
