In recognition of his impactful service and contributions, the School of General Studies,
Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku has bestowed an award of honour on Dr. John Odjuvwuderie Atake.
The award was presented to him at the main campus of DSPG on the 25 June, 2026, by
the Deputy Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Orogun (FEPO), Dr. Elijah Efetobor on behalf of the School of General Studies.
Presenting the award, Dr. Efetobore showered encomium on Atake for the qualities he brings to his work noting; that the organisers made no mistake nominating him.
Making his remarks, Dr. Atake expressed gratitude to the organisers; the school of general studies for finding him worthy of the recognition and award; which he said would spur him to work harder in the future.
He added, that the times shared with colleagues and students at the school of general studies, and DSPG in general, would forever be memoirs to cherish.
Dr. Atake taught at the School of General Studies (Department of Arts and Humanities), at the DSPG for over a decade.
While there, he instructed students in subjects like Citizenship Education and the History of Politics in Nigeria while conducting extensive research.
He served as a lecturer and Chief Lecturer from the mid-2000s before he transferred his service to the Federal Polytechnic, Orogun around 2024/2025.
Also involved in labour unionism, Dr. Atake is currently the Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, (ASUP), FEPO Chapter.
The event was witnessed by important dignitaries from the DSPG, FEPO, politics and captain of industries.
