The Okpara Uku of Orogun kingdom in Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State, Nigeria, HRM Joseph Okoocha Emoghene Osuokpa 1 has assured he will do everything within his powers to encourage Orogun indigenes who wants to invest in the community.
The traditional ruler made the assurance when he played host to prominent sons of the Kingdom from Umusu community, who paid him a courtesy visit on Wednesday 22, October, 2025 at his Palace in Orogun.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Omoru David Akposheri, a veteran journalist, publisher, Rights Activist and a former senior Aide to two past governors in Delta State, said he was in the Palace to pledge his unflinching loyalty to HRM Joseph Okoocha Emoghene Osuokpa1, the Okpara Uku of Orogun kingdom.
Chief Akposheri apologised for not coming early to pay his homage and congratulate the Monarch for the Staff of Office given to him by the Delta State Government, as a mark of official recognition and authority.
Continuing, Chief Omoru who holds the traditional title of the Oruese 1 of Orogun Kingdom, said it was part of his visit to introduce a prominent Son of the soil, Henry Akposheri Oweh who has been sojourning outside the shores of Nigeria to the revered Monarch, the Chiefs and people of the kingdom.
Chief Omoru David emphasizing the importance of peace and unity, sue for the cooperation and collaboration of all Orogun elite for the growth and development of the town.”Embracing peace and unity is the only way to go”, he stressed.
Also speaking, Henry Akposheri Oweh said he was elated to be in the midst of his kindred, as in the same vein, he corroborated the assertion of Chief Omoru, his uncle canvassing peace and unity among Orogun people especially, the elite.
Saying he was in the Palace to seek support of the Monarch and people of the Kingdom towards establishing developmental projects, his plan is all encompassing but will start with agro based industries, Oweh added.
“All we want to do is be in a private partnership with the community. The only thing we need from our community is land.”

Going memory lane, the August visitor; Henry Akposheri Oweh recalled how his late father, Adaka Edward Akposheri brought him to Orogun when he was only 16 years of age and the last time he came with him.
“My father told me Henry, this is your place, l brought you here to see your people, your community.
“Don’t forget to help them when you are grown and the resources are available; that is why I am here to do what my father asked me to do. And my uncle is firmly behind me in this project,” he disclosed.
“Improving the well-being of the youths, the women folks and aged in our community, is one of my top priorities,” he assured.

Responding, various Chiefs at the occasion acknowledged the urgent need to attract more development to Orogun Kingdom; recalling how Henry’s late father, Adaka Edward Akposheri Oweh proposed establishing a local gin manufacturing factory in Orogun but could not actualize the plan before he passed on.
The high point of the occasion was the call by the Okpara Uku, HRM Joseph Okocha Emoghene Osuokpa 1 on every native of the kingdom to support the vision.
As he commended Chief Omoru David for his antecedents in peace building, growth and development of the kingdom, also, the august visitor, Henry Oweh for coming.
HRM Joseph Okoocha Emoghene Osuokpa 1 in his prayers asked God and the ancestors of Orogun to give approval to Oweh’s proposals; and also cursed anyone who would attempt to stop the actualisation of the outlined proposal.
Present at the visit was the Secretary of the Palace, Chief Itebu who was Okparu Uku’s spokesperson on the occasion, prominent Chiefs from Obedeti community including Benson Okeregha, Johnson Onokete and Wilson Akpomughe who was the spokesperson for the visitors.
