The Concerned Young Citizens Forum (CYCF) has congratulated the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero on the award of the ‘2026 Arthur Svensson International Prize for Trade Union Rights.’
CYCF described the award as well-deserved, noting the honour as a remarkable achievement for Nigeria and the global labour movement.

Recently, a delegation of the organization led by its Director General, Comrade Miracle Nwosu JP, paid a courtesy visit to the NLC National Headquarters in Abuja, to formally congratulate the labour leader.
Also, the visit was to explore opportunities for a strategic institutional partnership between the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Concerned Young Citizens Forum.
Speaking during the visit, the Director General of CYCF, Comrade Nwosu, noted that the international award is a testament to Comrade Ajaero’s unwavering commitment to the defence of workers’ rights, social justice, democracy, and responsible leadership.
“This prestigious international recognition is not only a personal honour to Comrade Joe Ajaero but also a source of pride for Nigeria.
“His courage, resilience, and dedication to justice continue to inspire millions of young Nigerians to embrace responsible leadership, patriotism, and selfless service to humanity,” Comrade Nwosu stated.
He further explained that CYCF is committed to promoting youth empowerment, civic education, leadership development, entrepreneurship, democratic participation, and community development across Nigeria.
Further, Nwosu pointed out that the organisation’s collaboration with the Nigeria Labour Congress would significantly strengthen the impact of these initiatives.
The proposed partnership would provide a platform for both organizations to jointly implement programmes that empower young people, promote responsible citizenship, enhance civic engagement, and contribute to sustainable national development, he asserts.

The Concerned Young Citizens Forum reiterated its determination to continue building strategic partnerships with government institutions, labour organizations, development partners, and civil society stakeholders in pursuit of a more inclusive, prosperous, and democratic Nigeria.
Responding, Comrade Joe Ajaero expressed appreciation to the leadership and members of the Concerned Young Citizens Forum for the congratulatory visit and their goodwill.
Ajaero particularly commended the organisation’s commitment to youth development and civic responsibility; and welcomed continued engagement towards identifying areas of mutual cooperation.
Highlighting the visit was the presentation of a congratulatory letter to the Labour leader by CYCF delegation led by Comrade Nwosu.
