The All Progressives Congress (APC) successfully held its National Convention at the Eagle Square, Abuja, from March 27 to 28, 2026, bringing together the crème de la crème of the party, including distinguished leaders, stakeholders, and political shakers and movers from across the country.

The convention was a remarkable demonstration of the party’s commitment to integrity, cohesion, unity, inclusivity, and a well-documented democratic process.

The principle of affirmation, which anchored the proceedings, was transparently adopted and duly communicated to all accredited delegates and participants ahead of the event.

Prior to the convention, the state executive committees from 36 states of the federation were considered, with Ekiti and Osun States excluded in line with party decisions and prevailing electoral considerations. This was consistent with the party’s earlier timetable.

At the convention, officers elected to pilot the affairs of the party at the national level, were unanimously affirmed by delegates in attendance, reflecting the overwhelming confidence reposed in the leadership of the party.

This development further underscores the extent to which the APC has continued to deepen internal democracy in Nigeria.

As the largest and most developed political party in Africa, the APC once again distinguished itself by organizing a convention devoid of rancour, intimidation, and every form of conduct inimical to democratic best practices.

Indeed, the convention has gone down in history as one of the best-organized political gatherings ever conducted by any political party in Nigeria, and across sub-Saharan Africa.

We sincerely appreciate His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his candour, dexterity, and visionary leadership, which have continued to strengthen the APC and position it as the party of choice, for Nigerians under the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’.

Today, 32 states of the federation are under the APC leadership, a clear testament to the confidence Nigerians continue to place in the party and its governance philosophy.

Governors across these states, as political leaders in their respective domains, reaffirm their commitment to the APC because they believe in the party’s enduring vision and its genuine commitment to national progress.

The Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President has continued to cascade down to the states, helping to lift the nation from the shackles of underdevelopment through bold economic reforms and courageous policy decisions.

These actions have positioned Nigeria as a country of growing relevance and admiration among nations of the world.

We also commend all stakeholders and party faithful for their steadfast belief in democratic culture and for embracing the peace and harmony that presently exist within the party.

We encourage all members, and indeed all Nigerians, to continue to appreciate the dividends of democracy which the APC-led administrations have continued to deliver across all levels of government.

While acknowledging the present challenges facing the country, it is important to note that these are not peculiar to Nigeria, especially in the context of prevailing global economic and security realities.

Nevertheless, Nigeria will overcome these challenges and emerge stronger and more prosperous.

Governments at the federal, state, local government, and ward levels are therefore enjoined to continue to promote peace, unity, and national development, while all Nigerians are encouraged to remain committed to building a better Nigeria.

Together, we shall triumph in all our endeavours!
