• Says Claims baseless, misleading!
From our political desk, Benin
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Edo State Chapter, has strongly denied the attack allegations of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) against the ruling Party.
The ADC is seeking to link our party to the internal challenges currently confronting their organisation in the State, the APC raised the alarm.
The ruling Party made the denial in a statement by its State Publicity secretary, and SA to the Governor on Political Party Affairs, Prince Peter Uwadiae Enosoregbe Igbinigie, and circulated amongst journalists in Benin on Wednesday, 25 February, 2026.

“It is public knowledge that the ADC has recently been embroiled in visible internal crises,” the APC pointed out; therefore it could not be held responsible for its woes.
“Only a few days ago, some leaders of the party, led by former Chief Whip of the Senate, Hon. Roland Owie, were reportedly at the residence gate of former Edo State Governor, Chief John Oyegun, where they claimed they were locked out.
“This incident, widely circulated in the public domain, clearly pointed to deep-seated internal divisions within their ranks.
“Less than 48 hours after that episode, another alleged incident occurred, further exposing the internal instability within the ADC.
“It is therefore both surprising and unfortunate that the party now seeks to deflect attention from its internal wrangling, by attempting to drag the APC into matters that are entirely self-inflicted.
“The challenges currently facing the ADC are purely internal matters.
“They are self-afflicted and have absolutely nothing to do with the APC at either the State or national level.

“Therefore, attempts to externalise their internal divisions and cast aspersions on our party are not only misleading, but also a disservice to the people of Edo State.
“The APC in Edo State is a well-structured and disciplined political party, firmly encapsulated in unity, cohesion, and internal democracy.
“Our recently conducted ward and local government congresses were held peacefully and without rancour, further demonstrating the maturity and organisational strength of our party.
“We remain committed to issue-based politics and do not engage in violence or acts capable of destabilising the polity.”
The APC recalled; that the governor Monday Okpebholo led Edo State Government has consistently maintained that whenever high-profile dignitaries intend to visit the State, appropriate notification should be given to enable adequate security arrangements be put in place.
This standard procedure is in the interest of public safety and order, the party stated.
“The APC remains focused on strengthening democratic governance and contributing positively to the growth and stability of Edo State.”
Meanwhile, the Police, Edo State Command has in a statement circulated amongst journalists confirmed the report of violence at the activities of the ADC in Benin.
The Command spokesperson ASP ENO IKOEDEM said some hoodlums disrupted an ADC event, causing panic and damaging property.
In reaction, the Commissioner of Police Monday Agbonika, has ordered the commencement of a full-scale investigation into the incidents with a view to identifying, apprehending, and prosecuting the perpetrators, it was said.
