In the continued efforts to advancing Women’s rights; Edo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, has strengthened its partnership with the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA).
Towards the set objective, the Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to deepening collaboration aimed at promoting justice, inclusion, and social protection for vulnerable groups across the State.
Mrs. Eugenia Abdallah, the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development restated the Ministry’s commitment during a courtesy visit by members of FIDA.
Daisy Osunde, director, media in the Ministry disclosed this in a press release circulated amongst journalists on Monday, in Benin.

According to the press release, Mrs. Abdallah emphasized the Ministry’s dedication to sustained collaboration in addressing issues affecting women and families.
She described FIDA as a key partner in promoting access to justice and social protection, Osunde added.
The Commissioner was said to had highlighted the critical role of legal practitioners in addressing cases of abuse, discrimination, and violations of fundamental rights; noting that no one is above the law, irrespective of profession or status.
She underscored the need to uphold the rule of law and ensure that justice delivery mechanisms are responsive and effective in handling such cases.
Further, Mrs. Abdallah advocated for stronger institutional collaboration, enhanced referral systems, and sustained advocacy efforts to combat gender-based violence and all forms of discrimination, it was said.

Continuing, the Commissioner assured; her office remains open to constructive engagement geared towards tackling challenges confronting vulnerable populations.
Adding; that the Ministry is always ready to support initiatives which enhance women’s participation in governance and decision-making processes.
Responding, Edo State Chairperson of FIDA, Princess Francisca Elema, provided a brief overview of the organization’s history and mission.
While also highlighting its commitment to promoting, protecting, and advancing the rights and welfare of vulnerable women in the society.
Princess Elema reaffirmed FIDA’s dedication to partnering with relevant institutions, to ensure access to justice and stronger legal protections for vulnerable groups.
The association also used the occasion to formally congratulate Mrs. Abdallah on her appointment as Commissioner, while expressing optimism about a productive and impactful working relationship.
