The All Progressives Congress (APC), Edo State Chapter, has noted with amusement the recently choreographed political drama staged under the guise of a coalition meeting of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), held in Benin City at the residence of Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.
While it is within the democratic right of citizens to assemble, it is imperative to expose the gathering for what it truly was; a desperate attempt by expired political actors to resurrect lost relevance through an alliance that neither inspires confidence nor poses any threat to the APC’s firm grip on Edo State and Nigeria at large.
A Coalition of Political Tragedy
Let us for a moment examine the characters at the center of this performance:
Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, a former governor and erstwhile APC national chairman, has failed to maintain political relevance in contemporary Edo politics. He has neither the grassroots support nor the political network to influence electoral outcomes. His leadership style is reminiscent of a time that Edo has moved far beyond.

Senator (PROF.) Oserheimen Osunbor, another former governor, has become a political drifter; floating from one party to another, chasing tickets that consistently elude him. From PDP to APC, and now ADC, the recurring theme is rejection. In the last outing, even the APC declined to offer him a ticket; an unmistakable message from the people and political stakeholders alike!
Senator Rowland Owie, Senator Ehigie Uzamere, and Hon. Sergius Oguns, once known names, now struggle to find relevance in a rapidly evolving political climate. Their records are not only uninspiring; they are largely defined by nostalgia rather than present-day relevance.
Kenneth Imansuangbon, often dubbed the “Faded Riceman”, has turned the political space into a personal tour of unending ambition. Despite distributing rice for decades as a campaign gimmick, the electorate continues to reject his bids for leadership. The verdict of the people is clear: ‘Edo no longer celebrates optics without substance’.
Juxtaposing Political Tragedy with Progressive Development
It is important to place the political tragedy of these individuals side-by-side with the unmistakable progress and transformation currently sweeping across Edo State under the leadership of the APC.
While these individuals trade in political nostalgia, party-hopping, and empty declarations, the APC is delivering real-time development:
The relaunch of the New Edo Line under Governor Monday Okpebholo is restoring efficiency and pride to public transportation in the State.
Rural roads, schools, and healthcare facilities are being revived through strategic interventions, while partnerships are being built to empower farmers and small businesses across all local government areas.
At the national level, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu continues to steer the country through bold reforms, targeting long-term economic growth, investment, and inclusive governance under the Renewed Hope agenda.
In contrast, this ADC gathering produced no manifesto, no vision, and no roadmap; just recycled politicians seeking comfort in each other’s irrelevance.
The Verdict of the People
The people of Edo are politically aware! They remember not just what these men were, but also what they failed to be; leaders of substance, vision, and delivery. Their coalition is not a platform for hope but a graveyard of expired ambition!
The APC on the other hand, is not just building structures; we are building the future. Our strength lies not in recycled alliances but in results, credibility, and grassroots trust!
A Coalition of Convenience, Not Conviction
This ADC ‘coalition’ is nothing but one of convenience, cobbled together by men united only by past rejection and future uncertainty. It is not driven by ideological conviction or developmental vision, but by the fear of political extinction.
We urge the people of Edo to look beyond theatrics and remain aligned with the only party that has consistently shown capacity, delivered results, and earned the trust of the people: the All Progressives Congress (APC)!
