Tosin Rafiu had opened scoring in the eighth minute, giving the Falconets a perfect start and taking early control of the game.

The penalty save seemingly became a morale booster for the Falconets who maintained their composure; and continued to dictate proceedings.
Consequently, not long after the beginning of the second half of the game, Janet Akekoromowei found the back of the net in the 47th minute for the second goal, to put the Falconets firmly in control.
As Mary Mamadu completed the heart warming drive; scoring in the 73rd minute to seal a comprehensive 3-0 victory for Nigeria; and confirmed their progression to the last eight.
For Uzoma, the clean sheet was her second of the tournament, further underlining her growing reputation as one of the promising young goalkeepers in Nigerian women’s football.
With her performance against England particularly being impressive for its maturity.
She remained composed under pressure, commanded her area confidently and responded decisively whenever England threatened.
At just 17, the Edo Queens goalkeeper continue to demonstrate that she has the temperament and ability to perform on the biggest stages.

Her penalty save in the first half was a huge moment in the game and helped Nigeria maintain control before going on to seal an impressive victory.
I’m super happy with her performance! She may not have won the Player of the Match award, but her display won our hearts. she was one of the key reasons Nigeria booked a place in the quarter-finals.
With this type of performance, I’m very sure she won’t be playing in the Nigerian League anymore by this time next year.
A lot of clubs will be looking at her and monitoring her closely after this tournament. They’ll be fighting to get her signature.
What an awesome performance from Uzoma Christiana!
